I live on another planet where the weeks are REALLYYYY long…
High Plains Drifter (1973)

This week’s movie is “High Plains Drifter” staring Clint Eastwood, it’s a western… that combined with Clint Eastwood makes it awesome, that’s about all you need to know, but I’ll include more information anyway.

A mysterious gunfighter without a name rides across the desert landscape and arrives in the mining town beside the sea “Lago” to stay for the night. After gunning down three desperado’s who tried to kill him, the town hires the gunfighter to help defend the town from three murderous outlaws, Stacey Bridges, Bill Borders and Cole Carlin who have been released from jail after they brutally whipped to death the town’s local lawman Marshal Jim Duncan who is in his grave with a unmarked gravestone, the three outlaws set out to return to “Lago” to get their vengeance. The Stranger

Well I’ve been so busy I’ve seemed to have neglected my poor little site, too bad, it’s going to stay that way too ;)

I’ve just added a new page called “IRC Quotes” and to my 2 loyal readers out there (Anja and Baxter) I hope you enjoy them.

I’m shipping up to Boston is a reference to the song by the name of ” I’m shipping up to Boston” by the band Dropkick Murphys.

I’m a sailor peg
And I’ve lost my leg
Climbing up the top sails
I lost my leg!

I’m shipping up to Boston whoa
I’m shipping up to Boston whoa
I’m shipping up to Boston whoa
I’m shipping off…to find my wooden leg

I’m a sailor peg
And I’ve lost my leg
Climbing up the top sails
I lost my leg!

I’m shipping up to Boston whoa
I’m shipping up to Boston whoa
I’m shipping up to Boston whoa
I’m shipping off…to find my wooden leg

Today is ANZAC day here in Australia and in New Zealand, Anzac Day is commemorated by Australia and New Zealand on 25 April every year to remember members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who landed at Gallipoli in Turkey during World War I.

Pretty much the rest of this post is just stuff I’ve ripped off other sites, I’m off to watch the parade they have through the middle of Sydney :D

The Ode

This is the verse of the ode that is said during the minutes of silence on Anzac Day:

They shall grow not old,
As we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,
And in the morning
We will remember them. Lest we Forget

ANZAC Biscuits

(Taken from the ABC Teaching site)

These biscuits (cookies) are named after the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, a famous army corps from World War I. These cookies were made during the war because they used fewer ingredients and they shipped well due to the fact that the cookies were harder. Try them they are good! Recipe:

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 125gm butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon golden syrup - a product made from cane sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons boiling water

Combine the oats, sugar, flour and melt together. Then add the golden syrup, and finally the baking soda dissolved in the boiling water. Put spoonfuls of the mixture on a greased tray and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15-20 minutes or until cooked a golden-brown color and crispy.

Taxi (1998)Well it’s nearing the end of the week so it’s time for me to share my movie of the week. This weeks movie is … *drum roll* Taxi (1998)! I first found out about this movie a while back (probably 2000/2001) but it’s very hard to come by where I live, so I only managed to get it in the last few days. Needless to say it was worth the wait! I think the main reason is because I’m a big fan of Peugeots so.. Fast cars + Peugeots = Scourge happy :D

For those who haven’t heard of it before I’m going to include some other plot information and a few of the cast members.

In Marseilles (France), skilled pizza delivery boy Daniel who drives a scooter finally has his dreams come true. He gets a taxi license. Caught by the police for a huge speed infraction, he will help Emilien, a loser inspector who can’t drive, on the track of German bank robbers, so he doesn’t lose his license and his dream job.

I was browsing a site by the name of Digg, you may or may not have heard about it, but if you haven’t here it is: www.digg.com.

Digg is a “place for people to discover and share content from anywhere on the web. From the biggest online destinations to the most obscure blog, Digg surfaces the best stuff as voted on by our users.”

Anyway, I’m deviating from the point a bit, I noticed that there was an article by the name of “Old School…FTW!!!”. The link contained a picture of what looks like an American university lecture hall, everyone in the lecture hall (bar a few) had macbooks infront of them, It got me thinking, Why would you spend so much money on a laptop when you can buy another one that is just as good if not better for a lot less money? When you look at the picture it’s just ridiculous how many people are using them, surely there would be at least 1 normal notebook of some description, a dell? an IBM? anything… something? NOT A DAMN THING, they’re all MacBooks (except for a single Samsung lol).

The purpose of image was to point out that there was only one guy not using a laptop, and my hat goes off to that guy. Fight the power! lol
